FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Future Stars Athletics conducts New Athlete Assessments to help ensure that our program is the right fit for each athlete—and that each athlete is ready to be a positive addition to our team. The assessment gives our coaches an opportunity to:Evaluate an athlete’s ability to perform basic running movements and fundamental drills.Determine whether the athlete has a genuine interest in participating in track and field, rather than participating primarily because a parent or guardian wants them to.Observe the athlete’s effort, attitude, focus, and willingness to learn.Determine whether the athlete is coachable and able to listen, follow instructions, accept correction, and work within a team environment.Identify whether the athlete appears ready for the commitment and expectations of the Future Stars program.Determine whether Future Stars is a good fit for the athlete and whether the athlete can be a positive asset to the team. Most importantly, the assessment is not about expecting an athlete to already be an accomplished or elite runner. We can develop skills, technique, strength, and speed. What we are looking for first is an athlete who is willing to learn, work hard, be coached, and become part of the Future Stars family. Our goal is to place athletes in an environment where they have the opportunity to grow, compete, and succeed—both on and off the track.
